I suspect this book review might just shrink my audience a bit. At times, Adrian Newey’s How to Build a Car did that to me in more ways than one.

This was not an easy read. Far from being poorly written, but because it refuses to simplify genius. There are long passages on aerodynamics, airflow, ride height, pre-season testing and the invisible margins that decide championships. Most of it sailed over my head even if parts of it forced me to flip back and absorb the technicality of the craft. This was after all a memoir of a man who has spent decades trying to shave tenths of a second to win championships….
